John Galliano’s Cruise 2009 collection for Christian Dior

John Galliano’s Cruise 2009 collection for Christian Dior brought out  A-List mommies Jennifer Lopez and  Christina Aguilera and their gaunt, sleep deprived looking husbands. The collection showcases ide, swathy gypsy pants, off-the-shoulder ruffled tops, loose baby doll dresses and a diaphanous crepe belted caftan with a fall that extended from the shoulders – along with empire-waist gowns and plenty of brightly colored tiered dresses in preppy colors like fuchsia, lime and tangerine rounded out this fairly standard issue collection of resort wear that will work well whether you’re lounging in St. Tropez, Palm Beach or Greece.

A loose and comfortable voluminous silhouette ruled the runway here – great for hiding those post-pregnancy bulges, say – with enough flirty details like bows at the waist or glitzy beaded embellishment to keep it from completely entering soccer mom territory.

After a lengthy pause once the show ended, John Galliano – still affecting the look of a slightly disheveled 18th century pirate – finally came out onto the runway and took a grand bow.
