This one’s for the ladies. Gorgeous male models all lined up and looking pretty. Leave it to Armani so leave my mouth trembling for more. As I glanced through the runway shots of these studly fashion beefcakes I saw countless hits and a few misses. Like this Turkish pajama getup that Armani seemed to be in love with, very confusing. Also, I was so feeling the saucy tanned male model wearing those oh so sexy DSquared2 tiny black speedos but then I noticed a thick patch of pubic hair over the top of the shorts and the hotness was ruined. Pubic hair just doesn’t mix well with high fashion.

This is something I think is long overdue. For the month of July, Italian Vogue will be featuring 4 different covers all with black models, and all of the editorial features will focus on black women in the arts and entertainment industry. Amazing! This has never before been seen from such a huge fashion magazine, and it doesn’t get any bigger than Vogue. I am going to personally suscribe to Italian Vogue from now on since reading this story. To date I only susbcribe to the American Vogue, maybe they can learn a thing or to from this fantastic story. Even though it does cost $265.52 for 12 issues, I think it’s more than worth it. Plus I’ll save a few dollars every month as opposed to buying from NYC City news stands. Read the full story

NEW YORK - A man charged with stalking Tyra Banks has been ordered to stay away from the talk-show host or face going to jail.

Brady Green, according to a criminal complaint, has followed Banks from coast to coast since January, sent her letters and flowers, and tried to telephone her. Last week he was issued a court order requiring him to leave her alone.

Green, of Dublin, Ga., was arrested when he showed up several times March 18 at the Manhattan building where “The Tyra Banks Show” is taped and asked to speak to her, a misdemeanor complaint filed in Criminal Court says.

Banks also hosts the CW reality show “America’s Next Top Model.”

The complaint says building custodian Edward Troiano told police Green also had appeared at Banks’ Los Angeles studio “on multiple occasions” and asked to speak to her. He said Green had sent her letters and flowers there and had tried to reach her there by telephone at least five times, the complaint says.

Banks, 34, told police that Green’s actions had caused her to fear that she was in danger.

Police charged Green, 37, with stalking, criminal trespass and harassment. After his arraignment last Wednesday on the charges, Criminal Court Judge Anthony Ferrara released him without bail and ordered him to return to court May 13.

A telephone call to Green’s attorney wasn’t immediately returned Monday.

The New York Post said the Chelsea studio staffers were worried about Green returning. The paper said they were handing out photos of Green on Friday with a warning to stay away from him.

Prosecutors said they did not have an address for Green, who likely could face up to a year in jail if convicted.

 PARIS - The body of Katoucha Niane, one of the first African women to attain international stardom as a model and a vocal opponent of female genital mutilation, was found in the Seine River,police said Friday. Known simply as Katoucha, the former top model for Yves Saint Laurent and other top designers was found Thursday near the Garigliano bridge in Paris, judicial police in Paris said.

An autopsy showed no signs of foul play, pointing to the possibility that the 47-year-old may have fallen accidentally into the river, they said.

She had been missing since January and was last seen returning home from a party. She lived in a houseboat near Paris’ Alexandre III bridge, and her handbag was later found on the boat.

The Guinean-born model told The Associated Press in 1994 that she ran away to Europe at 17 aiming to be a model. Her big break came when Jules-Francois Crahay, then the designer at Lanvin, spotted her in a line-up. The label hired her as a fitting model. Her first catwalk modeling was for Thierry Mugler at the start of the 1980s.

After quitting the runway, she turned to speaking out actively against female circumcision, describing her own experience at age 9 in a book, “Katoucha, In My Flesh,” which was published last year.

“I will never get the incomparable pain out of my head,” she wrote in the book, which she dedicated to her three children. In the book, she also detailed wild nights of partying, alcohol and drugs.

Vanity Fair’s fashion and style director, Michael Roberts, said Katoucha was “one those girls who used her fame to spotlight the misfortunes of others.”

“She always seemed so gracious and very lovely,” he said. “She was sunny and she was bright, and I liked her a lot.”

Katoucha set up her own label in 1994 after years of modeling for the likes of Christian Lacroix and Saint Laurent. Singers Cher and France’s Johnny Hallyday were among the stars who turned out for her show.

“I don’t pretend to be like Lacroix, Saint Laurent or the others,” she said at the time. “But I was certainly in a great school by wearing their clothes and going to the fittings. I learned several basic lessons, including: Don’t cut the fabric until you’ve got the ‘toile,’ or heavy linen prototype, just right.”

Katoucha was the daughter of Djibril Tamsir Niane, an archaeologist and writer. She said that her father was initially disappointed that she didn’t become “a professional intellectual, with a university degree,” but later reconciled to her other successes.

In the months before her death, Katoucha took on her first film role, playing a beautiful and rebellious woman not unlike herself, said Leandre-Alain Baker, director of “Ramata.” Filming is complete but a release date has not yet been set.

“She’s marvelous in the role,” Baker said.

He also said he sensed Katoucha could never entirely free herself from painful childhood experiences — a struggle sometimes apparent in her emotional shifts.

“She could go right from laughter to anger,” Baker said. “But she always came back … and I attribute that to her past, what she experienced and lived through.”

I’m so happy one of my favorite shows is back! America’s Next Top Model has slowly grown on me. Like most I was pretty skeptical of the show and the realness of the actual prize and title, “America’s Next Top Model”, since no model has ever acheived any serious status in the modeling industry. Since she won a local modeling competition in her native Texas in 1999, several things have set Erin Wasson apart from her pretty peers. There’s the mole, the pout that won’t quit, the legs—and then there’s her personal style. This last bit, a scruffy but pulled-together look that’s all her own, is what’s been getting rave reviews lately.

The designer Alexander Wang asked her to be his in-house stylist last season, and was so pleased with the results he asked her back. We sent Derek Blasberg to catch up with Erin as she prepped for Wang’s fall show and finished a day of errands.
“You’ve gotta feel this stuff,” Erin Wasson says as she caresses the exotic skins and leathers strewn about Alex Wang’s lower Fifth Avenue studio. “It’s so yummy.” This morning isn’t all fur appreciation, however; after a brief directional meeting, Wasson leaves Wang’s studio to find chains that she will link together for the Fall show.

Asked what her best skill is, Alex responds, “Just being herself is her best talent. She knows what looks good.”…..

When did it become popular to replace a 5ft 10 inch super model with a 5ft 3inch actor? When did the modeling industry decide that they’re going to use the popularity and fame of an actor to sell their product? Actors like Scarlet Johansson, Selma Hayek, Ann Hathaway, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz the list goes on and on, are all the new faces of major fashion campaigns and ads. In the past Models like Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christie Turlington, Claudia Schiffer and of course the Great Naomi Campbell were all real models and all the faces of major fashion campaigns, but that was in a time long gone. Today a Fashion Model on the cover of a MAJOR U.S. fashion magazine is an URBAN MYTH.

When was the last time we saw a single model on the cover of Vogue? Around and about the year 2000 that’s when! The phenomenon of the disappearing model started happening around that time. More and more year after year you began to see less and less of our beloved super models. Why are we seeing this new trend? Who is responsible for this and WHY? We are seeing this new trend because today models are no longer exciting to watch, they all look like regular people, like the girl next door.

Now more than ever the magic starts when they sit in hair and makeup and 75 minutes later walk out looking like a runway goddess. Back in the day models DID NOT look like the girl next door. Nobody next door to me looked like Linda Evangelista, or Kelly “Don’t Hate Me because I’m Beautiful” Lebrock. These supermodels of the 80’s and 90’s were the cream of the crop. They were actual living, breathing knockouts, in person and on gloss.

In other words fashion magazines are the new tabloids! SEE FOR YOURSELF!!!!

They looked liked something that us regular folks could never achieve. IMPOSSIBLY BEAUTIFUL! Today’s models are beautiful but very generic looking, the designers and know it all fashions big wigs made sure to get more approachable looking girls that can be molded into the perfect product, instead of the product being the model like it used to be in the heyday of supermodels.

There is no mystery to their beauty which is why I think the world of celebrity models have vanished. So does this mean that actors are more beautiful than models today or as beautiful as models of yester year? OF COURSE NOT! It just means that actors are more famous and popular than models so using actors on the cover of major fashion magazine covers is really strictly about sales. Someone whose face is plastered on every possible media outlet will simply sell more magazines.
