Sunglasses Designers : Coco and Breezy Dotson

These identical twins cleverly went into the sunglasses business because they didn’t want to make eye contact with people staring at them because they’re different. Smart ladies indeed.

Do people constantly confuse you two?
Breezy: All the time. We’re identical twins. We have all the same tattoos also. We have like twelve.

What about your piercings?
I wanted to get our septum pierced, and Coco did not. And then I got it so she had to get it, and she ended up loving it.

How are you two different?
Well, I have a mole on my neck. And Coco observes more. I’m the crazier talkative one.

Have you ever fought over a guy?
No. Coco likes pretty boys. I like not-as-pretty boys.

Do you get sick of each other?
She gets sick of me. I’m the youngest, so I’m more sensitive. She’ll make me cry and she won’t show her emotion. And that makes me even more mad!

How’d you get into the sunglasses business?
We grew up in the suburbs, and people used to stare at us because we were different. We created eyewear to block eye contact. We like to be like aliens, on our own planet.

I love Coco & Breezy’s Rainy Days Collection, they each sell for $125

These shades make a fresh, bold statement.

There are many things we love about Corianna and Brianna Dotson. They are dope, they are fearless and they own their personal style. Thankfully for the fashion folks, the twin sisters have translated that into their own accessories label called Coco & Breezy, inspired by their nicknames, which features sunglasses that are as offbeat as their style. When they were 19 years old, Corianna and Brianna started Coco & Breezy after moving from Minnesota to join the hundreds of aspirants in New York. While their age could have created an obstacle in pursuing their dream, they didn’t let it become an hinderance. In fact it’s one of the reasons why the young designers think Coco & Breezy appeals to many.

“They can relate to us,” Brianna shares. “I mean we’re young designers. We don’t let our age stops us so that we can show to young and older people that anything is possible.”

And they’ve definitely have proven it. Now at 20 years old, the designers are gaining recognition from the industry and celebrities including Ashanti, Nicki Minaj and Beyonce, and it’s only going to get brighter from here.
